Hats off to the Farmers Day Hat Show
The Jesup Farmers Day hat show took place under the pavilion roof, which kept a steady rain off the audience and entrants. Despite the cool temperatures and drenching rain Friday afternoon, June 21, the enthusiasm of the Hat Show entrants was not dampened!

In the “Historical Hat” category, Joyce Wright won Grand Prize. Jameson Johnson won first and Madalynn Johnson won second.

In the “Farmers Day Theme Hat” category, Madalynn Johnson took Grand Prize for her “Woodland Queen” hat. Joyce Hamblin took first place with her “Camping in the Woods” hat. Ashley Lang was second with “The Lumber Jack” hat. Aliess Bedard took third with “Animals in the Woods” hat. Fourth place went to Logan Lang’s “Little Red Riding Hood” hat; and Jeremiah Parker was a participant with his “Bug” hat. All the theme hats explored aspects of the 2019 Jesup Farmers Day theme: “Into the Woods – LumberJacks!”

In the “Glamour and Glitz” category, Mallorie McIntosh’s “Mermaid” hat won the Grand Prize. First place went to Ruth Crowell’s “Feathers” hat. Second place went to Laycie McIntosh’s “Unicorn” hat.

Ashley Lang took the Grand Prize in the “Wild and Wacky” category. She wore “The Big Bad Wolf” hat. First place went to Lane McIntosh for a “Super Bull” hat. Second place went to Elsie McIntosh’s “Cowgirl Queen” hat.

This was the second year for the Farmers Day Hat Show – giving people the opportunity to have fun showing hats they’ve made, decorated, or preserved from the past. The hat stories can be entertaining and interesting as well, as told by the person modeling the hat.

Watch for more Hat Show fun at next year’s Farmers Day celebration, July 9-11, 2020.
