Lumberjacks featured as Farmers Day goes ‘Into the Woods’
The 2019 Jesup Farmers Day theme, “Into the Woods,” celebrates the tradition of the lumberjack with the All American Lumberjack Show. The 104th Jesup Farmers Day celebration will host authentic lumberjack shows on each of the three days of this incredible annual event in Jesup, Iowa on June 20-22.

Shows are scheduled for the following times on Young Street: Thursday, June 20, 8 p.m.; Friday, June 21, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Saturday, June 22, 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Lumberjacks.
They opened the land to farms and cities, helped build America and became the legends of the forest. They bragged to be the best and the tales of their feats are as tall as a pine tree.
The legend lives on in the All American Lumberjack Show — two teams, 10 exciting lumberjack events, 10,000 gallons of water and Lumberjack pride is on the line.
Lumberjack competition has been around for a long time and each competitive event was developed from a skill that a logger needed in the woods.
The show features the exciting, traditional, old-time skills of log rolling, x-cut sawing, ax throwing, buck sawing and boom racing. In addition, chainsaw events of obstacle pole racing, springboard tree topping, stock saw racing and hot saw racing will feature the skills of today's loggers.

For the adventurous, enjoy the lumberjack sport camps, free to everyone young and old. Lumberjack events of x-cut sawing and log rolling will be taught by the pros.
Between shows, the public is invited to sit back and watch as lumberjacks with nothing but a chainsaw, a plain old log and a lot of practice, carve just about anything imaginable including bears, eagles, turtles, fish, cactus, frogs and alligators. Carvings are given away at the shows.

When the sawdust settles and the show is over, meet the lumberjacks, get an autograph, take pictures and try your luck at some of the events.

The All American Lumberjack Show is just one of the features of this year’s Farmers Day celebration. Make plans now to enjoy the best small town celebration in Iowa!
